Individualized Education • Kurzweil3000, a supportive software for literacy and study skills, has enabled significant strides in individualizing education for all students in JPPSS. The district continues to focus on providing professional development sessions on the Kurzweil program by offering trainings throughout the school year. These sessions have been presented to teachers and administrators in the district by representatives from Kurzweil and from district support staff. • Teachers of LAA1 students have access to the Unique Learning System to support the curriculum. They are provided printed lessons on a monthly basis which are age appropriate, engaging activities for students. • Numerous software programs are available to teachers and students including Lexia, A+, Aztec, READ 180 and System 44 to enhance the goal of individualized instruction. • Teachers are trained in using Universal Design for Learning. The district encourages educators to present lessons in this manner to ensure all students access to the curriculum. • The district is currently planning the annual Inclusion Conference to be held on Tuesday, May 29 for the district’s teachers, administrators, paraeducators and parents. Details are forthcoming for this exciting event. This conference has been a tremendous a success in the past, so we are anticipating a good turnout this year.
