District Parent Advisory Committee

Vermilion Parish held its first D-PAC meeting of the 2009-10 school year on Wednesday, October 28th.

The D-PAC consists of at least two parent representatives from each school in our district.  Vermilion Parish recognizes that in order for students to succeed in schools and later in life, Schools, Families and Communities must work together in the education process.   The D-PAC meets at least 4 times during the school year.

The main purposes of this Parent Advisory Committee are:

~ To keep the lines of communication open between the homes and schools in the district.

~ To review and make recommendations to the district parent involvement plan, as well as, each school’s parent involvement plan.

~ Review and make recommendations on the “family friendly” status of schools in the district.

~ Review and make recommendations on family engagement and ways to remove barriers to engagement.
