Parent Luncheon

Families of Phoenix High School participated in a parent luncheon featuring Mr. Darryll Chandler of Gateway.  Family members enjoyed lunch while listening to Mr. Chandler address the importance of male involvement in the lives of children.  During this roundtable discussion, conversations focused on the obstacles that hinder male involvement and essential factors for increasing male involvement.  Participants included family members, administrative and central office staff.  Family members expressed that they enjoyed the presentation and look forward to Phoenix’s next luncheon, which will be held during the spring.

Principal Party

Mrs. Maria Prout hosts a Principal Party at the end of each nine weeks as part of Boothville-Venice Elementary’s Positive Behavior Support Program. Students are invited to the party if they meet the following criteria: are responsible, safe, respectful, have no more than three unexcused absences, no more than three missed homework assignments, and receive no behavior referrals.

The party for the first nine weeks was held on Friday, October 17
th. The party had a Circus theme. The gym was decorated with colorful balloons and flags. Mrs. Prout dressed as a clown wearing a rainbow wig, red nose, over-sized polka-dot tie and hat. The highlight of her attire was the flower on her lapel that squirted water!

In addition to dancing, the students were treated to Cracker Jacks and juice. Derrick Dollars were drawn for prizes. The grand prize winner was Alison Buras, a fourth grader. She won a portable DVD player and a fifty dollar gift card to Target.
